The RH60-MS is a magnetic pickup style sensor which is in common use today in a wide variety of commercial applications. TheRH60-MS produces an AC voltage, square wave frquency output by "seeing" and sensing the teeth of a rotating gear, most usually those of a flywheel. Using an electric type multi-meter with Hertz (Hz) frequency capability,(with appropriate ranges) you can calibrate our RH60-A Tach by reading the signal frequency at any given engine RPM, and by knowing the number of "teeth" on your flywheel, using this simple formula. Hz x 60 / #of teeth = RPM For example, if while the engine is running you take a reading from the RH60-MS and read 3049 Hz.... and say that your flywheel has 183 teeth. You'd multiply 3049 x 60, which equals 182940... then divide by 183(number of teeth) and see the result of 999.67 You would calibrate the Tach to read 1000.
